Le dernier frère is Nathacha Appanah’s 4th novel, about the largely forgotten (at least by official history) imprisonment of Jews at Beau-Bassin during World War II. It tackles memory and the emotions of childhood and of self-exploration, and gives the reader a different perspective on Mauritius.
