This study analyses numerous dialogues with the help of the enunciation theory to classify language functions. It shows that languages are semiotic systems, which enable us to construct dialogues instead of communication systems. The dialogues analysed are ancient biblical and philosophical texts and modern dialogues between therapist and patient.
