This study analyzes the links between philosophy, humanism and scholarly culture according to Ramus, the great 16th-century pedagogue – a prime target of the so-called “critique of pedantry”, which asserted that one had to choose between teaching and thinking. It offers new critical tools to approach his oeuvre.
